Apocalypse Race
This level was made in Unreal Engine 4 as a part of a university assignment in level design. Built for a hypothetical game combining elements of racing and battle royale.

This was a level made in a small group of students, as a part of a Level Design assignment in early 2022.
In this project, I worked with all aspects that went into creating it. As it was my first time working with UE4, this was where I taught myself the basics of blueprints, and some of the engine specific tools.
Insights
Visual Scripting
This project allowed me to learn a ton about blueprints. I got to build my own functionalities, as well as integrating changes into already existing blueprints. These functionalities included tweaking the physics interactions, and triggering events.
Level Design
Apart from learning about the UE4 tools for crafting levels, I learned a lot about guiding the player through environmental cues. The goal was to explore how to guide a player in an intense situation (such as at high speeds), where hesitation could cost them the victory.
3D Art
While I have explored making 3D props before, this was the first time I got to implement them in a game. This taught me a lot, including how to work with textures and materials in a game engine such as UE4. These included fencing, assets for the checkpoints and the starting area. It was a great experience, and has given me motivation to explore it more.
